What does everyone think of genital tattoos and piercings?
Considering I have tats on my hands and neck(as well as numerous other spots)I think it says how much I love them?

Never get a tattoo unless it has meaning – People always make the mistake of deciding they want a tattoo and just running out and getting one. They get something from TV, a video game, a book, decide out of the artists sketches or just pick the most generic crap like a tribal, butterfly or fairy. THIS is why people regret their tattoos. You always hear you will regret it if you get it, or “my cousin got a tattoo 10 years ago and regretted it”. These are always people that got something that had zero meaning in their life. I have never meet anyone that got a tattoo of something that truely meant something to them and regretted it. Tats are not just fashion statements….it sounds cliche but they are for life and your tastes change, love for a family member, music, a time in your life or some other passion rarely do(and if they do you can look back fondly on them).
Sit on your tattoo for 6 months to a year – Ok, so you decided your tattoo does have real meaning to you and your positive you want it? Great! Now sit on it for a year. If a year from now you still want it and feel it has meaning, chances are it will later down the line too.
Learn your pain tolerance and ask the artist which spots seem to hurt people the most – Far too many people just pick a spot and go with it, some spots do hurt FAR more then others and different people have difference tolerances and nerves clustered in different areas. My wife made the mistake of getting her tattoo on her mid back which is apparently an EXTREMELY painful spot, and she has no pain tolerance. If she would have known this before hand she said she would have gotten her lower or upper back. On the pain tolerance end I am a good example, my hands, arms, knuckles, shoulder none of it hurt much and I thought I had an extreame tolerance….till I got my neck done which is a spot that some people say does not hurt and others say it does. I swear it was some of the worst pain I ever went through and changed my view on people that say tattoos hurt right the freak around!
Research your artist – It is easy to find a shop with an opening and just hop in the chair. You MAY get lucky….chances are you will not. Make sure you do real research to make sure you are going to someone that can make your vision a reality. There is a good chance you may have to wait a few weeks or a month to get in the chair, and you may pay as much as twice as you would at that crappy same day shop….but again tattoos are forever its worth it.
Ask questions and make demands – You are paying and probably heavily for a service, a service that again are forever. When you think of bad tattoos you think of ill thought out concepts and bad artists….you rarely think of the fact that YOU mess up. How is your artist to know you do not like the color pink if you do not tell them? How is he supposed to know your sons name is spelled Geofrey not Jeffry? Communication is just as important as any other step.

There are a lot of people that wear sexy body jewelry. An icon to teenagers and those in college are celebrities. Some of these individuals are singers while others appear on the big screen.
Such examples just show that the demand for these accessories will continue to grow as long as the so called role models people look up to will also wear it.
There are other places in the body where such sexy jewelry can be placed. Some men have placed this on the genitals while women have decided to have this on the breasts and clit.
Have people gone crazy? The answer is no. These are just extreme ways of revealing something that people believe to help enhance sexual awakening.
There are a million reasons why someone will decide to have a piece of body jewelry pierced or clipped in a certain part of the human body. Many decide to do this simply to feel sexy.
Those who can afford it can have this placed in different places at the same time. In the end, it is not for society to judge because this does not affect anyone except the one who wanted it.

How could you DO this to yourself?
How could people modify their bodies to the point of ridiclous things like scarification or pocketing and piercing your genitalia? Tattoos and piercings seem okay to a point, but things other than that seem so bizarre. Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not judging you or anything, I’m just wondering WHY. What pleasure do you get out of things that hurt THIS BAD? I have my bellybutton and my earlobes pierced…and that’s about ALL I’m doing. I might tattoo “POLICE” to my back because being an officer is MY WHOLE LIFE. But people who get pointless tattoos, like a dragon on their butt…why?
I’m just trying to satisfy my curiosity in a respectful way.
First of all, calling modification “ridiculous” is not respectful.
If you really wanted to be respectful, you would ask us to explain things to without giving us a lecture. Instead, you’re asking us to justify ourselves whilst pointing out how brilliantly normal you are compared to us.

Secondly, I don’t understand how you think it’s okay to make small-minded distinctions about what is and isn’t okay.
Who are you to decide which tattoos are pointless, and which aren’t? Only an ignorant person takes tattoos at face value.
Anyway, It seems to me that you might as well just hate all modification, as its “ridiculous” and self-indulgent, and pointless. I mean, what’s the point of piercing your ears? SO you can wear earrings in them? WELL WOO-EFFING-HOO.
Thirdly, I think you’re over-estimating the pain.
Scarification isn’t too bad, I have a few small scars (self-done), and they hurt leaps and bounds less than the majority of my tattoos, and according to my fiance, genital piercings aren’t that painful either (he has a jacob’s ladder).
Furthermore, I see no difference between getting a tattoo, and getting a scar piece. It’s just a tattoo with no ink. Personally, I think if I had to pick which one is stranger, I’d have to go with the concept of injecting dye into the second layer of your skin.

Anyway, this question is pointless. I’ve come to find that people who don’t understand modification, rarely come to accept it. No matter what reasons I give, people generally tell me it’s not a good enough reason to make myself look like a freak.
I suppose the best answer I can give, is that modification makes me happy. No matter what anybody says, the pursuit of happiness is possibly the best reason to modify yourself.
