Information on learning to tattoo?
First question… How old do you have to be to take the classes to become a tattoo artist? I really want to learn… But I want to actually take the classes, not get some rookie to try to teach me them self. Its something I’m really interested in… Thing is, I live in Michigan, and I don’t know of anywhere that they give the classes… Is there anywhere near Chesterfield? And if there is, about how much do the classes run?
If you could give me a site with all this information, that would be great. I just can’t seem to find it myself…

Classes? No, what you need is an apprenticeship. An apprenticeship is learning from a licensed, experienced artist, not a rookie. In order to be licensed in the majority of states, Michigan included, you have to show proof of a formal apprenticeship. I have a shop in Cleveland, and now live in Lincoln, Nebraska, and in both places, as well as Michigan, you have to be 18 to become a licensed tattoo artist, meaning, no one will talk to you about an apprenticeship until you’re 18. There are laws and regulations about even handling machines and other equipment, so having a minor ins studio is not allowed. If this is something you really want to do, you have a lot to learn, and this probably isn’t the place.
You have a lot of questions you need to ask yourself, the first and most important, Are you an amazing artist? You have to be artistically talented before even thinking about tattooing. In order for someone to even talk to you about an apprenticeship, you need to have a portfolio of your amazing artwork, not just a bunch of doodle and pencils drawings you’ve done. Artists want to see it all. Watercolors, acrylics, colored pencils, even sculpture. We want to see that you can work in all media, as the skin is a very unique canvas, and the machine is much different than a brush, a pen, or a pencil.
You also need to ask yourself if you can afford it. Most apprenticeships cost anywhere from $5000 up to $20,000 depending on who you’re working with. You don’t get paid to learn, you pay to be taught. During your apprenticeship, which usually lasts around a year, you work for the shop for free. You clean, make appointments, run errands, basically anything the artists want you to do, you do. So, you’re there whenever the shop is open, during regular business hours, working for free, well, you’re paying to work there, and then you have to pay your bills. So, you get a night job, something you can do to keep your bills on schedule.
You won’t just become a tattoo artist, it is very difficult, and most people give up on it within the first year of their apprenticeship. So, you’re down time and money early on. This isn’t what the shows like Miami Ink and LA Ink make it look like. You don’t get to see the behind the scenes clips, where they are drawing into the late night hours, making sure the idea their customer comes in with, is turned into a great image. They always say, yeah, go have a cup of coffee, give me about 20-30 minutes to draw it up. Well, it’s not like that at all. Most artists don’t get rich, and fame rarely follows. If you’re willing to put in the time, and do without for three or more years, go for it. But, if you’re doing it to make money and get famous, stop now. If you aren’t a natural artist, stop now. If you don’t have lots of money to do without, stop now. Remember, tattooing is a job, not a hobby.

Chesterfield is a small town set in the peak district area of Derbyshire. Some would say it is a beautiful old market town set in the beautiful surroundings of the Peak District, but what of the towns women.

One of the town centre’s most recent of these is Le Chics, which is situated just off Beetwell St, Chesterfield. They offer a full range of services including Eye Brow Plucks, Massages and Contour Body Wraps as well as lots of other services. They even offer a free trial on their toning tables.
Most of the Health & Beauty Salons in the Chesterfield area, like most areas, offer fairly similar services to each other and a personal choice on whether you, as a client, like the surroundings or the staff of these establishments.
Some of the Health & Beauty establishments though do offer one or two different services which make them stand out a little.
