Is salt water OK for fresh tattoos?
I just got a tattoo about 3 days ago. It looks awesome. I know that I am not supposed to go in a chlorine pool, or out in the sun without SPF, but what about going into the ocean? Despite the fact that I should be careful about getting an infection from the ocean, is the salt water OK for it?Will it ruin the color? The tattoo has already started to scab up nicely.
No, submerging your tattoo in water will seriously damage it’s appearance.
Wait until it is FULLY HEALED.

However, in today’s society tattoos have become a lot more popular and a little less taboo as they once were. Although the acceptance of tattoos is still a little shaky and a lot of work still needs to be done in this area.
Here are a few fun tattoo facts, tips and statistics that you may or may not have known.
Even after your new tattoo is healed it is still susceptible to the sun’s rays. So be extra careful to avoid direct sunlight and always wear an SPF of 30 or higher to protect your tattoo.
There are at least a 100 different colors of a tattoo ink out there so you are not limited to you colors.
As of 2006 36% of people from the age of 18 to 29 had at least one tattoo.
In 2002 a poll was conducted that 1 out of 8 people have at least one tattoo. However, with the increasing number of young people out there getting tattoos, its sure to have gone up since then.
In 1991, a 5,000 year-old frozen man was discovered and scientists found a total of 57 different tattoos on his well preserved body.
The tattooing machine is based on the design of the modern doorbell.
In the late 19th and early 20th century tattoos were very fashionable among the aristocrats, which included women, to be tattooed. During this time, tattoos were very expensive and people paid large sums for their designs. However, the cost of tattoos were reduced and tattooing became adopted by lower class people and the tattoo soon became trashy.

where does it hurt more?back of neck or inside of ankle? does it cost extra with numbing gel? how many days can you not get it wet? im just getting a simple star tattoo nothing big.thanks in advanced.
Most artists won’t tattoo you if you have used any kind of numbing gel. Some artists sell it at their shop, but, quite honestly, from the feedback I’ve gotten over the years, it doesn’t work anyway, you still feel the pain of the tattoo.
If you go to the shop and have applied the gel, you take the risk of numbing the artists fingers and hands and making it impossible for them to tattoo you. If that happens, they are not obligated to finish the tattoo, but, you are obligated to pay for their service.
It’s best not to use any kind of numbing cream or gel. Tattoos do hurt, many people say their’s didn’t hurt, but honestly, they’re just trying to sound tough. As for getting it wet, there are no limits, you just can’t swim or submerge it in water until it’s healed.
You can shower normally, making sure to take care not to scrub it or allow the water to beat down on it. Showering is fine, bathing is not. Swimming, in lakes or pools needs to wait until the tattoo is completely healed, 4-6 weeks. Your artist will supply you with all the care instructions you need.
